I kind of think it should be banned in the hallways for people who...er...go too far with out. (Full on make out session for attention...*shudder*)

Well if we had enough security to be patrolling the halls, maybe. But we simply do not have enough man power to control such a thing

I'm a bit dismayed to see this- not because I disagree with keeping it PG, but because it seems a hint of discriminatory.

Why is it okay for heterosexual kissing of any kind (pecks, cheeks, etc) to take place, but not any homosexual kissing? Why should heterosexual kissing of any kind be allowed over homosexual? Because it's the 'norm'? So straight behavior is allowed because it doesn't offend homophobic parents? Why not have it so both can do pecks?

Please. I really expected better than that of this convention.

Seems like a valid question to me and I agree with the hint of discriminatory bit; but that's just my opinion.
However other than the general policies the special rules/policies that apply just to cosplay is Izy's domain so you'll have to wait for her to explain her reasoning.

There are no general policies that cover 'no-kissing' stuff that applies to the rest of the event. At least none that I'm aware of.
Although we do ask people keep stuff in public family-friendly.

It would be discriminatory against homosexuals if I didn't like them, but it's not that I don't (I actually have quite a quite homosexual friends), it's because of what happened last year. The two that performed such a thing WITHOUT permission, ruined it for the rest of the future homosexual performances.
Not to mention, there are people out there that are really uncomfortable with homosexual PDA, especially on stage. And on the note of hetrosexual acts, I don't expect and or will allow a couple to make out on stage either. If it is CLEARLY fake acting (ie hand in between or something), then that's fine (Same goes with homosexual acts)

I don't even see why people are at awe about this even after I said this IS NOT up for disscussion. There is to be NO yaoi/yuri performed on my stage. Again, you want to make out with someone of the same gender, fine, just do it on your own time not in front of hundreds of people who some are just not into that kind of stuff.

I will however, satisfy you people who seem to think this is discriminatory, and will only only pecks on the CHEEK, ONLY during performaces; of either homo/hetrosexual acts.
I'll admit, I have given my best girl friends little pecks on the cheek (but only them because they're my closest friends), so fine, you can so small pecks on the cheek to someone of the same gender for performances on stage.

But need I remind everyone, if you wish to see yaoi/yuri, go to yaoicon, that's what it's for. We are not the kind of con that promotes that kind of thing.

And please, I expected better from performers to use better discretion when preforming certain things on stage, exspecially a performance with PDA 9of any sort) in it. Works both ways love.

I'd basically say what's okay for Disney is okay for the cosplay contest. There was some yuri going on at the cosplay contest in Vancouver's AnimeEvolution, and I didn't hear anyone complain, but I don't really know if people care about it the same way in Vancouver as they would in Edmonton. When I first read this forum I thought that they were dry humping or something. I'd personally rather no kissing, but if its somehting like Sleeping Beauty it must be done. At the AnimeEvolution contest first a dude asked his girl to marry him, which was cute, but then it prompted EVERY other couple after that to kiss or something, which was stupid because the last ones were an Avatar group and the dude playing Sokka, well, his girlfriend was playing Katara, and at that point it made no sense.

So, unless it's cute and/or childlike, like in old Disney movies, I would say no, same sex or otherwise. C'mon, if a dude smooches another dude on the lips that's funny IMO.
