I agree with those who say that the kissing on stage - heterosexual, or homosexual - should be kept to an absolute minimum. That is something that is supposed to be inviting for everyone at the con, young and old; male and female.
However, those who suggest it should be banned in the hallways: I think you're going a little too far. Security aside, I think it's just an unreasonable request. No matter what you do, people will do it behind the backs of security, and as bad as it sounds, there are the thirteen-year-old yaoi fangirls who come to see this kind of thing. Mostly because their imaginations are far too wild and they need to see it in person, but they are also unable to get into a con, such as Yaoicon.
Yes, I know there is no need to satisfy these fangirls, but they will always, always, always find a way around the rules. Instead of blocking off all escapes and forcing them to do it behind the backs of planners, it seems much simpler to allow them their fantasies in the hallways, or at the very least, a designated area.
Myself, I am bisexual, so I have no problem with it, though I do agree that the fangirls get completely out of hand. I'm afraid to think of how many demands for yaoi pictures my friends and I will be asked for this year. /shudders

My point: I do understand both sides of this conflict, but I still think it's a waste of time to discuss things that have already been decided. ;D

Thank you!

And even though this is done over with, I still can't understand why people argued over this when I clearly said "Not up for disscussion". Plus, I never no kissing in the hallay, I could care less. Just don't do it on my stage is all. D:

Of course! The competition on stage is meant to be friendly to all, not just the screaming yaoi fangirls, nor the overprotective parents. I think everyone should be able to agree that what's been decided is rather fair for all.

People objected because you were essentially commiting a human rights violation. From Canada's Human Rights Act (http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/H-6/index.html):

"Prohibited grounds of discrimination

3. (1) For all purposes of this Act, the prohibited grounds of discrimination are race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, family status, disability and conviction for which a pardon has been granted."

Whether you were motivated by your own distaste for/objections to homosexual (yaoi/yuri) displays of affection, or by the objections of others, the fact that you specifically prohibited an act because of sexual orientation (no homosexual kissing, but heterosexual kissing was allowed) meant that you had committed a prohibited act of discrimination. The revised policy, allowing pecks on the cheek and such regardless of sexual orientation is fine.

You should be thanking these people. They saved you from breaking Canadian law.
